One day Sara’s boss told her: “We have to go to the Telluride Festival in Colorado, US”.
She said: “Well, actually I should go to the wedding celebration of my husband’s sister.. He’s the best man, you know..”
A couple of days before the opening of the festival He replied: “I’m really sorry about that, and by [...]

Yes, It happened.
On a beautiful Sunday, last Sept 6th, my sister Elisa got married with her longtime fiancé Lorenzo.
I was the best man and she was very beautiful, my father sang songs and my mother didn’t complain too much (she always does about almost everything, but this is another story..).
Unfortunately my wife was out.. but [...]

Running-wise I had a very fruitful August.. First came Murakami with his inspiring book about running, then Tozama forced me and Sara to follow his athletic schedule during the Greece vacation (we founded the “Khalkidiki Running Team”!), finally came the new Nike+ Human Race appointment and a medical approval for running to my wife’s knees. [...]

With unforgivable delay (let me tell you: WordPress app for iPhone really sucks!) I’m here to post some pics about the last 4 days of our vacation.
We left Chanioti, got back to Thessaloniki and got a fast ferry for Alonissos island, in the Sporades archipelagus.
We’ve been hosted by the kindest person in the world Mihalis [...]

After the Safran Foer Odissey I was getting a little numb about the outside world, so Sara and the Tozamas convinced me to go out with them, Rosita’s mother, Rosita’s sister Natalia and her boyfriend Davide on their mother’s boat for some old style fishing. I have to admit I was not that interested at [...]

Running is an old friend of mine, now getting back the center stage of my holiday agenda, thanks either to Tozama (“in Greece we’ll go for a run everyday!” and you know Tozama when he makes up his mind..) and this little funny book from Haruki Murakami, who put down in words his thoughts about [...]

Now that’s what I call an ideal schedule: wake up at 10am, quick coffee and cake, then 45 min running with Sara and Tozama, while Rosita plays the viola at our small, lovely apartment in Moudania, in the Calcidic peninsula.. Then we take a bath in the sea (really enjoyable after running), we go uptown [...]

Me and Sara wanted to celebrate the end of our main work issues (Il Cinema Ritrovato and Nike IAM1) by heading to Benicassim to see our beloved Kings Of Leon and have some fun at the Spanish seaside.
But we didn’t know some major forces were against our plans..
Take a look here:

Or [...]

.. For sure the toughest so far.. Hopefully the richest in terms of gratifications..
The Nike IAM1 Journey took me the last 3 months of thoughts, time and energy… Now the production is over and some of the contents are already online on nikesportswear.com.
Yesterday we got back home, and was great to end up this period [...]

Cineteca di Bologna and Slow Food (both coordinated by my wife) made this marvellous festival. I’ve been there. Ate f****ing good with some great street food (ah, those polpettine of Mora Romagnola..) enjoyed all together with friends. Watched some great movies. Saw a lot of people. Understood that we all should be committed to global [...]

As you may know my wife works in Cineteca di Bologna, as executive producer of all the special initiatives they plan every year.
One of these is Slow Food On Film, an international festival on movies (most of all documentaries) talking about food matters.
This year is the 2nd edition, and it will start with an importante [...]

Umbria Trip

Me and Sara took a 3-days break.
We drove 800km around Emilia, Umbria, Toscana: Ravenna, Gubbio, Spello, Assisi, Spoleto, Orvieto.
We saw great places, a lot of medieval art, ate great food, had fun, slept a lot.
Some highlights: the fish of “Il Mago del Pesce” in Sant’Alberto di Ravenna, the beauty of Assisi, the Duomo of Orvieto, [...]

Sara wanted to celebrate my birthday in a special place. We went to Marconi restaurant, a really sophisticated (and expensive!) restaurant, where between courses she gifted me with some long-awaited books: the new Morozzi’s “Colui che gli dei vogliono distruggere”, Giorgio Vasta’s “Il tempo materiale”, Will Eisner’s “New York” and Richard Yates’ “Easter Parade”.
Wonderful night, [...]

How many years man has eaten and bought what was produced and grown into his own nearby territory? Dozens of centuries.. And now, after 50 years of global consumerism where it looked cool to have hyper-red strawberries in December, one carrot inside 3 different non-recycling packages and eat chicken from Philipines, we feel we have [...]

Fingers crossed

My wife got back into university (good old) days… In the last 2 months she’s been studying hard in order to enter the ranking for being hired by the city administration, in the same Cineteca position as she’s now as a collaborator.. Yesterday she had the oral exam.. It went well: 26/30! Now we have [...]

Today it’s Sara’s birthday, so we decided to take one day off work and celebrate.
First we woke up late, then took a lazy morning in bed, then went to Parma to have a wonderful lunch at Ristorante Cocchi (what a great bollito misto and culatello!) and finally we went to see the Correggio exhibition at [...]

Who’s too busy?

Sara often complains about my work schedules, but in these days of Le Parole Dello Schermo Festival I keep thinking that the real busy one in the family is not me… And by the way: who’s that man embracing her??!!?

A marriage in Naples

Sara’s old friend Rebe got married with a girl from Naples… We went there to attend the ceremony and the wedding party.. Every single action (the waiting, the ceremony, the pre-dinner, the dinner, the photos) was in slo-motion.. But the fish was good and Sara’s friends were really nice! Thanx to Beppe for the lift!
